The body dissolving into the landscape….
Magdalena Bors. Everybody loves this Magdalena Bors photograph, it’s all over the intranets and people keep forwarding it to me. It’s lovely, but I like the golden cave better….But there are few subtler photographs on her website that I really love, more mystery with the magic at the periphery, more questions for me.
From his website…I’ve been planning/dreaming/scheming to make a giant insane beard on my husband’s face, and this cloak is just really exciting, telling me to get busy. smoke and fabric conflate. Again with the smoke. Also really drawn to the spectrum of the root and the destruction in this.
again, body as landscape, volcanic
I saw these last night at Roc La Rue. Erik Fortune. As Kirsten Anderson and I seemed to say in unison, looking at the folds in these paintings is like getting a massage to the brain. I love how the hair is in unison with the environment, swirling like it’s the same material, every bit of life and matter made of a delicate quality of silk or pastry dough. The dark lady in the water seems to have a mini-landscape on her shoulders, which seems to be something I’m obsessed with at the moment, the body becoming landscape or city scape. More please. And the tree, texture is like deep folds on the inside of the body, or like muddy gilded baroque frames.
landscape on the body, insane folds…
